SECOND HALF OF 2023

With some friends sketching in Skagit Valley on Fir Island at Jensen Access. We sat on a dike between the marshes and the farm tilled fields.   Started with grey skies, but ended with sunshine and a view of Mt Baker.

Lunch time sketching with Sketch Break

My nieces high school graduation at the Everett Angels of the Wind Arena.

From our friends house on Whidbey Island with a view to Everett and the Cascade Mountains.

Another work trip to Vancouver BC and the weather was great to go out at the end of my meetings to do a few sketches before the sun sets.

Kukutali is a quiet and relaxing place for getting out of the city for a day.

Sketcher Fest 23 in Edmonds was another great time to enjoy the company of other sketchers, teach a workshop, help out with Eleanor's workshop, show off our travel sketchbooks and get in some sketches of other participants.

At the end of July we headed down to Mexico City for our first visit to the capital.

The house of Frida Kahlo in the Coyoacan Neighborhood.

A tour on the Canales de Xochimilco and enjoying drinking beer / listening to the Mariachi Bands. You keep them on your boat by continually paying more money, but you need the cooperation of the rest of your boat too.

Faces from the museum of anthropology

We stayed with Nate in an apartment he was sub-leasing from a couple from Bellingham.  The Condessa neighborhood was a wonderful tree lined neighborhood, central to many places to visit with many cafes and restaurants to eat at.

We took a tour out to Teotihuacan to see the pyramids of the sun and the moon.  Magnificent site to walk around and see them up close.  Luckily it was an overcast day because there was no places to get out of the sun.

No trip to Mexico City is complete without an evening watching and cheering for Lucha Libre at the Arena Mexico.

Jazz Walk in our North City Neighborhood.

At the Seattle Design Festival, the first sketch is our office installation.

Lunchtime Sketch Break at the office

Another weekend on Whidbey and sketching at Fort Casey and the Admiralty Head Lighthouse.

The view across the parade grounds at Camp Casey
Down below the town of Coupeville I sat along the shoreline and captured the under belly of the buildings.

Returning from a work trip to Vancouver BC I had lunch/dinner in Conway and did this sketch of the pub.

One of the old bikes at the Snohomish Tweed Ride.

Heading to a Sounders match and stopping in Occidental Square for pre-game events.

At Gordon Skagit Farms in Skagit Valley

Seattle Urban Sketchers go to the Nordic Museum in Ballard to sketch the new Troll installation.
It began to rain in the middle of the second sketch and the whole thing dissolved into a mess before I went inside and used the restroom hand dryer to stabilize the sketch before drawing over the mess.

Seattle Urban Sketchers at the University of Washington.  One of my favorite places to sketch.

Going to Bremerton for a visit where my wife grew up.

Spending a weekend at Camp Casey because my brother-in-law works for SPU.

From the Gage Academy Draw Jam that happens every year.
